Wendy Katagi is a songwriter who loves singing about her love for God, family, nature, and Christmas. She has produced two albums with Grammy-nominated jazz pianist and arranger, Tom Zink, "Rise in Hope Again" (released in 2011) and now "Spirit of Christmas" (2013). Wendy studied piano and voice both privately and while attending UC Irvine. She is from a musical family. Her mother sings and teaches ukelele and leads the "Ukelele Jammers" at church. Her father does sound mixing at church. Wendy's grandfather, Larry Matsuda, was a self-taught musician who owned Larry's Music Store in Kapaa, Kauai. Wendy's daughter, Hannah, also loves music and singing. They often sing together.

Wendy has been a performer all her life. Besides singing and piano, Wendy studied "odori", Japanese classical dancing--performing on stages throughout CA from the age of 5. Wendy was strongly influenced by the music of Amy Grant in her younger years as well as Julie Andrews, Judy Garland, and more recently the pop opera singer Josh Groban. While at UC Irvine, Wendy sang in Broadway musicals, performed classic soprano art songs, choral music, and toured England, Scotland, and Wales. She also sang on a number of christian recordings including Maranatha Music, Vineyard Music, and Hope Chapel Music. Wendy volunteers in her church and often leads special music, conducts choir numbers, and performs in musicals. As a solo recording artist, Wendy has performed at the Nakano Theater, South Coast Botanic Garden, and many other venues throughout southern California. She also teaches voice and piano privately.
